#OPY.

Sir,

Condosure

1.

Green Island Lighthouse,

May 13th., 1913.

226

I beg to report that the Aga Acetylene Flash

Light for Buoys, which was temporarily fixed at this station by

Mr. Nilsson, has been continually burning for one month.

During this period the Flasher has kept correct

time, thus:- 0.3′′ Light+ 2.7" Darkness.

There has been occasional heavy rains, and a

few humid days, but the Lens and Lantern Glass have kept quite

clear, and free from condensation.

The apparatus and lantern was locked up by Mr.

Nilsson when he started the light, and has not been opened since,

except on the day when H. E. the Governor and y urself came over to inspect it.

This system of Buoy and Beacon lighting is a great improvement on the Pintsch Oil Gas system, and the Wigham

Petroleum Lamp. There is no fear of the lamp smoking, (which often

happens with the Wigham Light) and it is much more powerful.

The apparatus is so simple, that there appears

to be nothing to go wrong.

I think, Sir, the Aga Acetylene Flash Light

will eventually revolutionize the lighted Buoys and Beacons in

every country.

I have etc.,

(Sd.) F. A. Coleman.

Captain Basil R. H. Taylor, R.N.,

Harbour Master, &c..
